Psychotherapy can be either short-term or long-term, depending on your unique goals and circumstances. The number of sessions you’ll need is influenced by several factors — including the type of therapy, the therapist’s approach, and the depth or complexity of the issues you’d like to address.
We take a personalized approach, tailoring each treatment plan to your individual needs. Sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes. While many clients benefit from an initial course of 6 to 12 sessions, others may find that longer-term support is more suitable. Your therapist will work with you to determine what’s best for your journey.

While we don’t usually offer a formal assessment, the first session is a space to openly discuss your situation and begin exploring helpful next steps in your therapy journey.
Yes — in some cases, clients prefer to have someone accompany them for the first few minutes of the initial session to provide support or share relevant context. While this can be helpful at the start, you’ll typically gain the most from therapy when you’re able to speak openly and honestly, without concern about others’ presence, reactions, or judgments.
This often depends on the child’s age and comfort level. In many cases, parents are welcome to join for the first few minutes and again at the end of the session to offer support and share helpful input. It can also be beneficial to review therapeutic exercises with parents so they can reinforce the activities at home and support their child’s progress between sessions.
